ONE of his elves has let slip that Santa will be making regular appearances at Merchant Square on Candleriggs in the run up to Christmas.
Not only is he setting up his grotto to dish out stacks of goodies to all good girls and boys but, in this season of charity and giving, it’s only fitting that all proceeds from Santa’s grotto will be donated to Radio Clyde’s Cash for Kids campaign.
Set within an enclosed Victorian courtyard, Santa’s grotto is located beneath a glittering canopy of stars. All visiting kids will receive a Christmas stocking full of goodies provided by local top discount department store, T J Hughes.
Jenni Morrison, of Merchant City Properties, said: “I can confirm that Santa will indeed be making an appearance in the weekends before Christmas and is looking forward to hearing what presents top the wish list for kids this year!
“It’s fantastic that he’s agreed to donate all proceeds from his appearance to Cash for Kids. That means that by visiting Merchant Square, parents know that they can treat their kids and, by doing so, treat many other kids too!
“Not only that, but parents can then treat themselves to a well-deserved relaxing afternoon in the Square’s fabulous selection of restaurants and cafes, all set within our covered and heated courtyard.”
According to the elf, Santa will be making an appearance every Saturday and Sunday in December before Christmas and on Thursday 23rd December from 12 noon until 4.30pm.
Merchant Square, in the heart of Glasgow’s cultural, fashion and food quarter, is Glasgow’s most vibrant venue for a worldwide selection of cafes, bars and restaurants.
Once part of the old Glasgow Fruit Market, Merchant Square is imbued with the history of the area’s dominating Victorian architecture, although today this sense of history blends seamlessly with the distinctly cosmopolitan ambiance that pervades the surrounding cobbled streets that bring the outside in. Since 1981 the Radio Clyde Cash for Kids appeal has been helping to support the most vulnerable children in our communities. To date the appeal has raised over £16 million helping 1.5 million children.
