AN annual fundraising lunch looks set to raise more than £25,000 in support of Scotland’s carers and young carers.
Marion White’s annual Ladies Lunch has already raised in excess of £190,000 for The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in the ten years it has been running.
This year’s event on Sunday 21 November will be hosted by TV design guru and Trust celebrity supporter John Amabile and it will take place at 29 in Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow.
Lunch will be followed by entertainment provided by successful stand-up comedian Janey Godley and cabaret artist Edward Reid.
Marion is chair of the Scottish campaign board and she has donated generous amounts of time and money to The Trust in the 12 years she has worked in support of unpaid carers and young carers.
Marion works with her husband, Gordon, in the design and media consultancy agency, fatBuzz Ltd.
John Amabile, who hosts ITV’s 60-Minute Makeover programme and runs his own design company, Amabile Design, is also a long-standing supporter of The Trust.
Says a spokesperson: “Scotland has an estimated 700,000 unpaid carers and young carers who provide unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.”
Florence Burke, the Trust’s director for Scotland, said: “Marion’s Ladies Lunch has raised a great deal of much-needed money for The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in the tenyears that it has been running, as well as being an eagerly anticipated event on the Glasgow social scene.
“We’re very grateful to her and all the guests’ ongoing support and for donating so much to Scotland’s carers and young carers.”
