AN Edinburgh hairdresser is undergoing a major £500,000 refurbishment to expand its already well-established salon into a multi-beauty treatment venue.
Vincent Bell Hairdressing – who boast two locations in the Capital – is renovating its Stockbridge salon with a 1,000 square foot upper level expansion.
The project will make the salon one of the biggest in Edinburgh – with a total floor space of 2,000 sq ft – following two years of intense negotiations to secure planning permission.
Karen Bell, manager of Vincent Bell Hairdressing, said: “We want to create an indulgent experience for our clients who will be able to have the complete beauty package.
“Not only will they have their hair done but they will be able to choose from a wide range of treatments including manicures, pedicures, facials, massage and waxing.
“It will be an up market one-stop-shop for the complete beauty experience – as well as being one of the biggest operations in the hairdressing sector in Scotland.”
The street-level salon on North West Circus Place is being converted into a two-storey venue after Karen and husband Vincent bought a flat above the existing property.
Building work is being completed by Edinburgh-based Bells Joinery and ceramics and tiling will be supplied by top end Spanish company, Porcelanosa.
By the end of November, the upstairs floor will be complete but the extensive changes downstairs – including installing a glass staircase – will be finished by early 2011.
Karen added: “We’ve had many comments from our clients that our salon would be the perfect place to spend the day being pampered.
“We wanted to expand not only the venue but also the brand name – we’ve done a lot this year including setting up an e-commerce site for our products.
“Our reputation for hair styling will grow with our new venture and we’re confident our new services will bring that added element of luxury to the salon.”
Set up in 1999 by Karen and Vincent Bell, Vincent Bell Hairdressing has built a fantastic reputation for quality work and customer service.
Their exclusive Training Academy within their Bread Street salon offers a full range of courses suitable for everyone from those with little or no experience to junior hairdressers.
The academy, which enjoys an impressive success rate, runs an introduction to hairdressing course, commercial one and two day sessions, as well as NVQ Level 2 qualification.
Since Karen Bell took over management of the Bread Street salon, the business has gone from strength to strength and plans are currently underway to create a third salon in the capital.
