RIG inspection and training company, RigTech, has started to produce its training manuals in Arabic and Russian, as well as English.
“We have English on one side of the page and the translation on the other,” explained Malcolm McDonnell, RigTech CEO.
“We’ve done this in response to local demand.
“Previously, we ran courses in English but now they have been taken up by the national drilling company in Abu Dhabi.
“We run the same courses for Weatherford in Dubai and one in Iraq where a lot of the workers don’t speak English, so this seemed the best way forward to get the message across that training improves safety and performance.”
RigTech’s training and workshop programme has been developed for the drilling industry.
The company, based at Salvesen Tower in Aberdeen, provides technical courses as well as training in management competency, maintenance and asset philosophies and HSE.
“We would like to deliver more of these training courses than we do at the moment, to get companies to start at the basic level and progress from there,” added Malcolm.
“We want to pass on our knowledge and skills while showing that investing in training from RigTech will make personnel work more safely, will increase productivity and reduce costs.”
