THE Enchanted Forest, a Perthshire Big Tree Country event and one of Scotland’s premier sound and light shows, launched this week to a select audience of press and VIPs at Faskally Wood near Pitlochry.
The Enchanted Forest, now in its ninth successful year, has this year been managed by the social enterprise Highland Perthshire Community Interest Company, and is on target to attract over 20,000 visitors, building on its award winning success in 2009.
The 2010 theme, ‘Force of Nature’, has been designed by Scottish designers, Simon Wilkinson (lighting) and Ronnie McConnell (sound), whose vision to use the forest as a creative backdrop to depict some of nature’s most elemental forces: earth, wind, fire and water.
The original music score and an artistic lighting design sees the show return to its roots of a traditional son et lumiere show, making best use of the stunning surroundings of the Autumnal forest and Loch Dunmore.
The event will take run from Friday 22nd October – Sunday 7th November at Forestry Commission Scotland’s Faskally Wood, near Pitlochry.
Derek Allan, chair of The Enchanted Forest 2010, commented “We’ve worked with two of Scotland’s most exciting designers on this year’s show and we are confident it will deliver an experience that visitors will find sensational and engaging.
“This change of approach, we feel, will be welcomed by visitors both new and returning. Not only are we taking people around the forest in a completely different direction from in previous years, but we have also saved the best to last so that the entire visit is builds up to a big light and water show on the loch.”
Visitors to the area can also enjoy the Highland Perthshire Autumn Festival events taking place in Pitlochry and surrounding area making it a truly family event.
Tickets are in very high demand this year with many shows already selling out. For further information about the Enchanted Forest, and to book tickets, visit the Enchanted Forest website at www.enchantedforest.org.uk.
