POPULAR Glasgow Italian restaurant, Paperino’s West End, has been shortlisted for both the Italian Restaurant of the Year Award in the prestigious Pizza Pasta & Italian Food Association (PAPA) awards as well as in the Family Outlet of the Year category of the SLTN Awards 2010.
Mark Billington, managing director of Paperino’s, said: “We’re delighted to be short-listed for not one but two prestigious catering awards!
“Our West End restaurant has always been popular with lovers of authentic, fresh Italian cuisine and our staff always display a warm, welcoming Italian approach to children.
“With custom-built baby-changing facilities and a fresh, enticing and tasty children’s menu, it’s a venue for the whole family – even late into the evening. “
Renowned for its traditional Italian cuisine, Paperino’s West End offers an extensive range of pasta, pizza and meat and fish dishes.
The SLTN award winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on Thursday, 21 October while the winners of the PAPA awards will be announced at a special awards dinner at the Lancaster London, Hyde Park, on Thursday, 11 November.
Brothers, Stefano and Sandro Giovanazzi, opened the original Paperino’s in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow in 1991. Renowned for its traditional Italian cuisine, offering an extensive range of pasta, pizza and meat and fish dishes, it quickly established its position as a firm favourite with Glasgow’s Italian community.
Its success was such that sister restaurant, Paperino’s West End, opened at 227 Byres Road five years ago, followed by Paperino’s @ 78 St Vincent Street last June, coinciding with the 75th birthday of Walt Disney’s Donald Duck, from which the restaurants derive their name.
