FIFE’S Employer Engagement Group gathered at Tullis Russell on Monday 11 October to launch the Opportunities Fife ‘Employers Offer’ and to recognise the role and value of the new ‘Employer Champion’ for Fife, Chris Parr.
The ‘Employer Offer’ will introduce measures to increase job sustainability and retention levels, create a clear employment pathway for key client groups and make it easier to provide bespoke and flexible training solutions to suit individual and employer needs.
Chris Parr, chief executive officer of Tullis Russell was selected by Fife Economy Partnership and was inaugurated as ‘Employment Champion’ by Councillor Riches. He will use this opportunity to promote the employability agenda to the wider business community.
The networking event was attended by employers and representatives of colleges and employment agencies from across Fife. They have a clear mission to work proactively to maximise employment opportunities, identify employer needs, and the use of transitional employment opportunities to influence any necessary training.
Chris said: “It is a great privilege and honour to accept this ambassador role as Employment Champion. I am delighted to be given this responsibility to influence the growth of employment across Fife. I hope to use this role to encourage private and public sector working partnerships to raise employment opportunities and develop a growth in Fife’s economy.”
In welcoming Chris, Councillor Riches said: “Today is an encouraging and exciting step forward for promotion of employability development in Fife. The ‘Employer Offer’ launch, coupled with the inauguration of the ‘Employment Champion’, Chris Parr, indicates how serious we are in both identifying and tackling Fife’s Employment issues.”
