Arran Pride : The Pride on the Clyde bursts into colour this Saturday 3rd and 4th June
Put it into your diaries Saturday, 3rd and Sunday 4th June, as it’s the Pride on the Clyde, Arran Pride Weekend.
KICKING off on Saturday 3rd June is the Arran Pride Parade – a big rainbow splash for all LGBTQi+ family, along with our wonderful supporters. Then onto the Picnic in the Park , to be followed by an evening ceilidh. And for those who make a weekend of it, on Sunday 4th , a restorative Rainbow Dook & BBQ.
Set to take place in Brodick on the picturesque Isle of Arran, just a short ferry ride from the mainland. The perfect excuse for a visit … not that anyone needs an excuse to visit Arran.
A fun, family friendly outing for all. A free event!
The Parade will start at Market Road near Brodick Pier @ 12.30. Leading the event will be the loud, proud and impressive SheBoom Drummers – sure to get the crowd going.
Capping the Parade will be our very own Isle of Arran Music School Pipe Band to keep it truly Scottish as we promenade down the waterfront of Brodick, under the gaze of Goatfell.
Ending at the Brodick Hall Park, where you are all invited to stay and enjoy free entertainment hosted by the incredibly talented Reba McIntyre accompanied by many local young artists. This will be a family-friendly, no-alcohol event. So make sure to bring your granny and your wee ones to our Picnic in the Park.
Michael Gettins, chair of Arran Pride, said: “Our first event, last year was so fantastic (enjoyed by the hundreds that turned up) that the committee decided to do it all again. This year, we will have even more noise, even more colour and much, much more fun. We look forward to welcoming family, friends and our allies to celebrate this year.”
Along with the entertainment at the Picnic in the Park, with be information stalls provided by Terrence Higgins Trust, Arran Broadband, Equality Network. LGBT Youth Scotland, Age Scotland, the Star Centre and many more…
In the Brodick Library from 2-3pm, we will once again have people telling their own unique stories as part of an Open Book session that follows on from the success of lasts year’s Human Library, which will be recorded by arransound.com.
Following on, there with be an evening ceilidh with a start time of 19.30, at the Brodick Hall. Make sure you get in early for your tickets, as the numbers are very limited! Music will be provided by the wonderful Gillian Frame and friends.
Sunday 4th June features a refreshing and restorative Rainbow Dook at 12noon. Setting off from the gardens outside The Douglas Hotel, Brodick.
From there, we will head down to the water. Open to all colourful and courageous Dookers. This will be followed by a BBQ at The Douglas Hotel, Brodick with an afternoon of entertainment until 3pm.
Last year, our first ever Arran Pride, proved to be a resounding success for all who came, enjoying an inclusive, relaxed, Arran Welcome. Just proving, we may be small, but we know how to throw a fun filled Pride.
Time to dig out your most colourful clothing and head on over.

Notes for editors:
The Arran Pride event is in its infancy, with our very first Arran Pride Parade held last year (2022). The timing was poignant, being 50 years after the first London Pride in 1972.
At our first Pride Parade, we had a turn out of over 500 people, with many more coming out to support from the side-lines. We are very fortunate to live in a small community with support – not something which can be taken for granted in many places in the world. This community support and enthusiasm is reflected in the very warm welcome everyone gets when they arrive on Arran….especially for Arran Pride.
