SCOTTISH Online Lessons (SOL), the platform which offers lessons mirroring the Scottish P1 to S5 curriculum, is set to offer every schoolchild across Scotland the opportunity to kick-start their new academic year for free.
Throughout the month of September, SOL, which was initially created by Lanarkshire-based company, Uteach Ltd, in response to school closures during COVID, will offer free access to its entire platform to support all Scottish students aged 5-18 as they embark on the new school year.
Within the SOL platform, all lessons are presented in an easy-to-understand video format which have been written and presented by engaging and experienced teachers, making it the ideal ‘study-buddy’ for pupils of all ages.
SOL is available for £5 per month and currently thousands of Scottish pupils subscribing to online lessons. The platform covers Primary school literacy and numeracy from P1-P7, as well as nine subjects from S1-S5 including Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Modern Studies, History, Geography and Business Management.
Kathleen Brennan, director of SOL, comments: “SOL is designed to support every Scottish child, regardless of whether they are looking to increase their grades, have learning barriers to overcome or are taking a crash Higher and need extra support.
“Our online lessons are pre-recorded, accessible 24/7 and allow children to pause, rewind and replay every lesson, meaning they can study at their own pace, in their own environment, in a way that best suits them. They can be used as a revision or study resource and are the next best thing to having the teacher in the room.”
Ms Brennan adds: “For the first time in almost three years, young people in Scotland will have the opportunity to enjoy a normal academic year. They have faced so much disruption in their learning journey because of the pandemic and now, unfortunately, the cost-of-living crisis is affecting so many families.
“This means that going down the route of getting tutors may not be a realistic option for anyone who needs a little more support or who wants to further improve their grades. We believe it is so important for pupils to break-through these barriers to education and that is why we are offering free access to SOL to reignite every pupil’s passion for learning.”
Those interested in taking up the opportunity to gain free access to the SOL platform for the month of September either for themselves or their child/children should email FREE MONTH to info@scottishonlinelessons.com
Notes for editors:
- Scottish Online Lessons (SOL) was launched in September 2021 to help children who may have some gaps in their education due to the pandemic. Since then, we have helped thousands of families revise and learn at home.
- SOL allows children and young people to learn at home or anywhere else on a mobile app with fully-narrated lessons by experienced teachers.
- Children learn at different paces and retain information better in different methods so the platform offers the option to pause, rewind and replay every lesson which allows the child/young adult to study at their own pace, in their own environment and in their own method. This removes the stress of having to keep up with others and encouraging the child/student to study the best way that works best for them.
- Scottish Online Lessons is designed to help school children across the spectrum. The service has already received much positive feedback from families across Scotland, especially those revising for National 5 and Higher exams, children with additional learning support needs, and families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
