GRM Marketing, a Glasgow-based marketing and sponsorship agency, is launching Sponsor Lead, a dedicated online platform for sports sponsorship – believed to be a first for Scotland.
The platform is designed to help connections grow between teams, individual athletes and businesses and has already recruited an impressive line to their portfolio.
Sponsor Lead is an online platform with a large portfolio of top-performing and committed athletes and teams. The Sponsor Lead team will work on connecting these athletes and teams with leading brands and businesses helping create exciting and lucrative sponsorship opportunities.
This is a business-to-business platform where companies can look over high-value sports teams and individual athletes who have been specially-selected as part of the drive to support winning contenders.
As members of the European Sponsorship Association, the site will work with all parties to deliver a strong return on investment.
Alice Basson, marketing executive at Sponsor Lead, explains: “We ensure that all our Sponsor Lead members understand that sponsorship is about a partnership, with all parties working towards common objectives.
“We understand the benefits and possibilities of sponsorship over other marketing tools and this platform is designed to create a win-win-win relationship for business, sports and the spectator.
“Sponsor Lead has been created to help get sports teams and individuals to the start line and then the podium with the support of business.”
The platform promises that each new sports team or elite athlete will be carefully-selected with the certainty that they will mirror the values of the brands and will spread a positive message in the media about business.
For those seeking sponsorship, Sponsor Lead has a careful selection process to ensure those joining the platform are committed to improving in their sport.
Maureen McGonigle, chair of Scottish Women in Sport, said: “We love the concept of bringing together business and athletes to work in partnership.
“For many athletes, the sponsorship arena can be a difficult one to navigate, so to have the support of a professional, who is on your side, will take a lot of pressure off athletes allowing them to focus on the task in hand.”
Sponsor Lead will develop a portfolio for each athlete, team, club and organisation who are looking for sponsorship and will offer support through PR and digital and social media.
The platform will be informative with content, news stories and blogs delivered regularly across their website and social media sites
Sponsor Lead will be launching on Wednesday and has already signed up East Kilbride Football Club and Scottish Volleyball stars, Beattie and Coutts.
Beattie and Coutts explained: “We are very excited to work with Sponsor Lead on our journey to qualify for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
“We feel very privileged to be part of the Sponsor Lead launch alongside some other inspiring teams and athletes and we can’t wait to see what we can achieve with their support.”
Sponsor Lead is a partner of Via Sponsorship, Scotland’s Premier Sponsorship Conference.
