EDINBURGH local, Kathryn Strachan, founder and managing director of Scottish content marketing agency, Copy House, has been shortlisted for an esteemed Global Women in Marketing Award.
Founded with the goal of empowering women in the marketing profession to realise their full potential, the Women in Marketing Awards 2020 marks the ten-year anniversary of the accolade.
From female entrepreneurs to women working in corporations, WiM represents a wave of evolution within the world of marketing.
Kathryn has been shortlisted for the Best Leader in Marketing award for her outstanding accomplishments in exemplary leadership over the last year.
Starting Copy House in 2019 as a sole trader, and working with a small group of clients across a range of industries, within 15 months Kathryn has grown her business into a successful content marketing agency specialising in technology and FinTech brands.
She has also grown her team from a one woman band into a strong team of seven including herself, an account manager, project manager, three copywriters, and a marketing manager.
Today, her company works with some of the largest brands in the world on their content strategies — including FinTech giant, Klarna, and blue chip brands like Cigna and Travelex.
Despite the emerging threat of the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year, Kathryn successfully transformed her freelance business into a robust, thriving content marketing agency that continues to support global companies in educating their customers about emerging technology.
While 2020 has undoubtedly been a demanding year, Kathryn approached the challenge head on by continuously looking for solutions and pushing her business, as well as Copy House’s clients, through the difficult periods.
Rather than admit defeat, she pro-actively encouraged clients to find innovative solutions and adjust their pre-COVID offerings to meet the current climate to ease future uncertainty.
Kathryn is highly skilled in attracting new customers and building relationships. Always prepared to go above and beyond, her leadership inspires and motivates her team to go the extra mile for all of their clients.
Throughout the pandemic, Kathryn has refused to give up and has done everything in her power to keep her employees in their jobs and to keep Copy House going. Thanks to her undying drive and hard work, Copy House ended up growing as other companies closed their doors.
The winner of WiM 2020 Best Leader in Marketing is one who demonstrates self-awareness, leading a change agenda and decisiveness in the face of challenging circumstances.
On learning the news of being shortlisted for the award, Kathryn commented: “I’m extremely happy to be shortlisted, and it’s an honour to rank amongst some of the top brands and female leaders in the marketing space. It’s a real career highlight.”
