GERAINT Ashton Jones and Gill Williams make up photography duo, ‘Below the Skye Line’, specialising in capturing stunning underwater photographs of the vibrant and ‘other-worldly’ waters off the Isle of Skye and the Scottish Highlands.
The duo have recently been selected to launch their first limited-edition collection, on the Scottish photography print platform, Solu.
Solu searches for the renowned and rising stars of photography in Scotland and gives the artists a platform in which to sell their works.
Says the duo: “We are proud to work with Solu to bring our first exclusive collection: a study of jellyfish, capturing both the grace and beauty of these wonderful creatures that are seen by many but understood by few.”
In March 2019, Gill and Geraint started the collaborative project with the aim of capturing the underwater environment, its inhabitants and the delicate eco-system found in the waters on and around the Isle of Skye.
One of the key aims of the project is to grow an awareness of the beauty that is so often out of sight and to highlight how fragile the balance of sustainability is.
Gill, an experienced diver of many years, uses her skills to capture the raw images which Geraint then balances using contrast, shadow and highlights to create the final photograph.
Adds a spokesperson from Solu: “We are delighted to have Below the Skye Line join Solu. We are developing a platform where artists celebrate the diversity of the environment in and around Scotland.
“We believe in supporting photographers with a purpose and love how Below the Skye Line capture a world that we may soon be fighting even more to protect.
