FOLLOWING the massive success of the online awards for the 41st Celtic Media Festival earlier this year, Celtic Media Festival today opened the Call for Entries for the 2021 Torc Awards for Excellence, taking place next year in Quimper, Brittany.

In 2020 the Celtic Media Festival made the decision to move the awards online, due to Covid-19 restrictions, and are delighted to be opening a call for entries for the awards in 2021.

The CMF Torc Awards for Excellence are due to take place in Quimper in 2021.

The Celtic Media Festival honours the best in ‘Celtic’ programming and broadcast talent from across the Celtic nations and regions.

Each year, the festival and the awards evolve to reflect a dynamic and ever-changing industry; in 2021 two new screen categories have been added: Feature Documentary and Live Music Programme, taking the number of categories up to 26, spanning everything from Factual Series to Arts, Drama Series, to Sport, Current Affairs to Radio Station of the Year.

Past winners of the Torc Awards for Excellence include Kaye Adams for Radio Presenter of the Year, BBC’s Line of Duty and Poldark, RTÉ’s Love/Hate, Scottish comedy phenomenon Still Game, Stephen Bennett’s moving documentary Dunblane – Our Story, Channel 4’s incredible The Ballymurphy Precedent, as well as Welsh crossover hit, Keeping Faith/Un Bore Mercher, starring Eve Myles.

Content makers may submit entries for these prestigious awards at www.celticmediafestival.co.uk

Full details of the festival programme, delegate registration, and how to purchase tickets will be announced early next year.

Catriona Logan, festival director, said: “We’re so happy to be opening the call for entries for 2021.

“After the success of the online awards earlier this year, I know we’re all keen to meet again at CMF 2021 in Quimper.

“We’re working towards that and we know; however, the awards are presented, there will still be the high-quality programming we’ve come to expect at Celtic Media Festival. The introduction of two new categories represent the evolution in storytelling from the Celtic nations and regions and we can’t wait to see what they have to offer.”
