A FRESH appeal for items and services has been launched by a community radio station in the north of Scotland.
Covid-19 has affected the treats on offer for this year’s annual Auction August at North Highland Radio, a charity which relies hugely on raising its own funds.
The list is fairly slim, with just under a week until the auction weekend starts next Friday (28th).
Lorraine Chisholm, managing director of the Dingwall-based station, hopes the closing days will bring in the goods, literally.
She said: “The August Auction is so vital in terms of us continuing to serve our community.
“We have a small and dedicated team of volunteers producing a range of programmes and we continued to run during the lockdown thanks to home-made shows.
“We’re now pressing hard to add to our list of goods and services from organisations, who needn’t be local.
“Businesses are clearly watching their money, which I completely understand, but anything at all that will get our listeners bidding will help us greatly. We thank those who have already pledged something already.
“In return for anything donated to us, we’ll ensure that they are given plenty of airtime and social media mentions throughout next weekend. I hope we get the response we require, which will help us to carry on operating successfully from our purpose-built studio in Dingwall.”
The station was established in 2014 from Alness before relocating to nearby Dingwall three years later.
You can listen via the station’s website (www.northhighlandradio.co.uk), the Tune In app or through your smart speakers. If any one can help, please email studio@northhighlandradio.co.uk
