VAL Gall is a rising star in Scottish wildlife photography and is based on an estate in the highlands of Perthshire.
Specialising in capturing wildlife in its habitat in Scotland and beyond, Gall has launched her much-anticipated first collection on the Scottish art portal, Solu.
Having always had a passion for photography, this first collection highlights just how talented Gall is at capturing a moment in time and celebrating the wildlife in the surroundings in which they are discovered.
Gall’s love of wildlife and the nature around her has been lifelong, spending much of her career working in forensic and medical veterinary research. Now, Gall spends most of her time walking on the estate, setting up her camouflage bunker and awaiting the stag to appear on the horizon or the Osprey to return once again to fish in the lake.
Gall explains: “My love of photography has evolved through my deafness. I can do it anytime, in any weather – both on my doorstep, literally, or in far flung destinations.
“I never know what I will see and every outing is different for light, species and interactions.”
Gall is involved with several different organisations – from the Scottish Wildlife Trust to The David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi. With a particular love and interest in Ospreys, she has captured these birds in Scotland before following to their winter territories in Gambia and Senegal, to name but a few locations.
This first collection features iconic animals from the Scottish landscape and, amongst others, features a striking portrait of a male Golden Eagle and a stunning visual of Red Deer in the snow.
Gall’s first limited edition collection can be found on the online site, Solu. Solu was launched last month and is a platform for artists and photographers to display and sell their work and will be launching further limited editions with dynamic and talented artists.
