THE latest round of winners have been announced on this, the second day of the Celtic Media Festival.
Hard-hitting historical documentaries and Olympian sporting athletes were among the day two winners at the three-day Celtic Media Festival in Aviemore, Scotland.
RTÉ2’s The Rotunda, which gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the world’s oldest maternity hospital scooped the Best Factual Entertainment award, while in Short Drama SFTN’s Bunny won with its tale of an emotionally repressed young man with rabbit ears, challenged by disruptive outsiders to face up to his delusion.
Catriona Logan, festival director, said: “History, factual entertainment, short drama, and radio: Celtic content makers excel in every field, and acknowledging that excellence is what the Celtic Media Festival is about.
“Today, broadcasters Channel 4, RTÉ2, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, and the Scottish Film Talent Network have scooped the top awards in their respective categories.
“These awards are truly international; broadcasters and producers compete with the best of their peers and so a win at the Celtic is a win of wins. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners today.”
The Celtic Media Festival Torc Awards celebrate the very best of film, television, radio and interactive media to emerge within the Celtic nations in the past year. Day one of the 40th Celtic Media Festival got off to an amazing start yesterday culminating in an opening night event in association with Screen Scotland in a Tipi in the glorious grounds of the Macdonald Resort in Aviemore.
As day two continues promoting the languages and cultures of the Celtic nations and regions, for delegates this is a priceless opportunity to network as they get up close with the biggest names and organisations in the industry.
