WORLD-class athletes arrived in Glasgow last night ahead of speaking at what is believed to be Scotland’s first sports sponsorship conference.
British/Bermudan sailing champion, Emily Nagel, and Paralympic ski guide, Brett Wild, are set to speak at the Via Sponsorship conference to increase the profile of sponsorship in sport.
Organised by GRM, the Via Sponsorship conference is believed to be the first of its type, and taking place at the University of Strathclyde on 5th and 6th March.
The conference will look to educate businesses and athletes on the value, importance, processes and power of sponsorship in sport and create a platform for each to connect, communicate and share vital tips to make their careers a success.
The conference will feature an array of top-class presentations, case studies, panel discussions and workshops given by experts within the industry. There will also be athletes from all sporting disciplines who are set to share their personal experiences of sponsorship gained throughout their sporting careers.
Scotland’s Brett Wild will talk about his life as ski guide to three-time Paralympic medallist, Millie Knight, and sponsorship within the snowsports sector.
Professional sailor, Emily Nagel, the youngest female in the 2017/18 Volvo Ocean Race, on board AkzoNobel, will be presenting herself as a sponsorship case study in the sport of sailing.
Arriving at the pre-conference dinner, alongside other speakers, the pair said: “We are really excited for this unique event and look forward to being a part of Via Sponsorship to raise the profile of sponsorship in sport.”
The pair will also be joined at the conference by endurance athlete and ambassador for Patagonia, Chloë Lanthier, who will discuss how sponsorship has helped her achieve her sporting ambitions alongside her studies and running her own business.
