A NEW website has been launched to support members of the Armed Forces community in Moray and Highland.
Created by Moray Council and Highland Council, with a generous award from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, the website features information local services and the assistance available to the Armed Forces community including schools and learning, employment and training, money and financial advice, health, wellbeing and housing.
Jo Lenihan, Armed Forces Covenant project officer for Moray and Highland, explained: “The website has been created to support all members of the Armed Forces community whether they are regular, reserve, ex-service and their families under the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. It provides a source of information in one place to help our Armed Forces community whether they are moving here for the first time or are already settled in the area.”
Cllr Donald Gatt, Moray Council’s Armed Forces champion and Royal Air Force veteran, welcomed the launch of the website.
“Moray has a large Armed Forces population of serving members and their families, and Veterans who have settled here. Their valuable skills enhance and contribute greatly to the benefit of Moray’s local economy.
“Having served in the RAF, I know the challenges of moving to a new area and I’m glad this website will offer support and information for partners, spouses and families, covering important issues like housing, education and employment – all vital in helping serving personnel, reservists, service leavers and Veterans make the most of what Moray has to offer. We’re proud to support those who serve.”
