THE winner of the Celtic Media Festival International Pitching Forum 2019 will receive development money of £10,000 – this is the first time the winner will receive a significant starter fund of this size.
The Proposal Pitching Round is now open, which this year focuses on factual programming, and the Celtic Media Festival is welcoming pitches from producers to pitch@celticmediafestival.co.uk until 5pm on January 15th.
The CMF International Pitching Forum, in association with XPO North and the Canada Media Fund will take place at the Celtic Media Festival in Aviemore, Scotland, from the 4th-6th of June.
The Celtic Media Festival is an annual three-day media-industry event that travels across the Celtic Nations and Regions. 2019 will see it celebrate its 40th edition in the historic setting of Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands.
The festival combines a major conference of seminars, networking events and masterclasses, with presentations of coveted prizes in an international competition across all the main content genres in TV, radio, film and digital media.
Since launching in 2016, the CMF’s International Pitching Forum has gone from strength to strength attracting talented pitches from across the Celtic nations. In 2019, the festival will strengthen its international links, this year working with the Canada Media Fund and hosting delegates from Canada. Canadian producers and broadcasters will attend CMF to take part in the International Pitching Forum, providing Celtic delegates with opportunities to do business on an international stage.
Following the Proposal Pitching Round, a shortlist of submissions will be selected for the presentation of live pitches, which will then take place in a closed session with only the Forum moderators, the Forum decision makers and the selected producer / team present at each pitch.
Catriona Logan, festival director, said: “We are very excited for the 40th edition of the Celtic where, for the first time, panellists of the International Pitching Forum will choose a winning pitch to take home a £10,000 development award prize.
“It’s a great opportunity for producers to pitch their ideas to a global audience of some of the most influential decision makers from across the world and we’ve seen an incredible array of pitches do this since its launch in 2016.
“The CMF has positioned itself as a must attend event on the festival circuit for industry professionals and we are honoured to be a flourishing platform attracting the best conference speakers and showcasing emerging talent.”
The fund comes through the generous support of the festival’s core funders, including BBC Wales, BBC Scotland, BBC Northern Ireland, MG ALBA, S4C, RTÉ and TG4.
