THE ‘sold out’ signs are sure to go up next month as we head towards the FPSG Annual Awards Dinner in Glasgow on Saturday 3 November.
And we are pleased to confirm we have again agreed a media partnership with The Herald around the event.
Double Olympic champion, Dame Kelly Holmes, is lined up as our guest of honour for the big night at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow and tickets are on sale online.
FPSG are our event sponsors again this year after coming on board for the first time last November – when Callum Hawkins lifted the FPSG Athlete of the Year trophy.
The Herald have backed the awards dinner for the past two years with extensive coverage both in advance of the night and thereafter and both in their print editions and online.
In recent years, The Herald has really led the way in terms of covering athletics in Scotland and our elite stars as they compete around the globe.
“I am really pleased to confirm this media partnership again for the 2018 FPSG Awards Dinner,’ said Peter Jardine, head of Communications with scottishathletics.
“Looking back over the past couple of years, the Herald has featured some outstanding coverage of both this event and the sport itself throughout the year.
“We feel sure the presence of Dame Kelly Kolmes only adds further to the excitement for the 2019 dinner and it’s an occasion when we look to celebrate and acknowledge athletes, coaches, clubs, volunteers and officials.
“Having a media partnership should ensure a wider audience for some of the great stories to be told from the event and we will work in partnership with the Herald to promote those to the athletics community in Scotland and the wider readership.”
Shortlists are currently being prepared for all categories and we expect to reveal soon the Athlete of the Year nominations for FPSG Athlete of the Year as well as the Masters, U20, U17 and Para categories.
“We are delighted to be continuing our media partnership with Scottish Athletics for the 2018 FPSG Awards Dinner,” said James Morgan, head of sport at The Herald.
“This is a very exciting time for the sport in this country and The Herald remains as committed as ever to promoting not only the awards night but also the many stories behind those who have excelled in throughout the year.”
