ELGIN library is to play host to an Aberdeen-based professor later this month, who will present an insight into women’s suffrage in Scotland.
At the event on Wednesday 22 August at 7pm, Sarah Pedersen, a professor of Communication and Media and the director of Research in Communication, Marketing and Media at Robert Gordon University, will deliver a talk about her book entitled ‘Scottish Suffragettes and the Press’.
This book gives an unique viewpoint of the fight for women’s votes in Scotland. It approaches the Scottish women’s suffrage campaign from the point of view of the popular press.
To complement this talk an exhibition of photographs and articles from newspapers about women’s suffrage in Scotland, and in particular the local area, will be on display during August within Elgin library.
