THE Scottish Sun has teamed up with Sir Brian Souter and Stagecoach to convert a double-decker bus into a mobile charity shop. The bus hits the road next week to raise money for two great causes – Mary’s Meals and Scotland’s Hospices Together.

Sir Brian donated the bus – nicknamed ‘Bussy McBusface’ by Scottish Sun staff – and had his team of engineers convert the downstairs deck into an old-fashioned mobile shop. He is also giving The Scottish Sun a driver for the week-long tour.

The paper’s staff have helped stock the shop with goodies from their contacts and clients, and they’ll be running a tombola every day with the chance to win great prizes.

Scots superstar duo, The Krankies w,ill launch the bus on Monday – with the first stop in Kilsyth – and there will be surprise guests during the rest of the week.

Thereafter, the fundraising tour will call in at Ayr and Stevenston on Tuesday, Glasgow on Wednesday, Kirkcaldy on Thursday, before ending the week in Perth on Friday.

The bus will be setting up shop in Lidl car parks at each location, after bosses of the shop chain pledged support to the charity drive.

Alan Muir, editor of The Scottish Sun, said: “Sir Brian Souter and Stagecoach have been hugely generous in giving us the double-decker, so that we can go on tour with our charity shop.

“We have had fantastic success with our Christmas charity shop, raising tens of thousands for good causes over the past couple of years. Now we want to head out across Scotland with our prizes, bargains and fun. Hopefully we’ll have people queuing up to come aboard and grab a goodie.”

He added: “None of this would have been possible without the exceptional generosity of Sir Brian, our contacts and customers – and, of course, the most important people of all: our readers.”

Sir Brian Souter said: “Mary’s Meals and Scotland’s Hospices Together do wonderful work and deserve any support that we can give them.”
