Media release: News Scotland launches summer sponsorship programme – books, films and golf featuring

News Scotland

THIE week marks the start of a vibrant and varied sponsorship season for News Scotland, publishers of The Times Scotland and The Sunday Times Scotland, with partnerships in literature, film and sport coming to fruition over the coming months.

The 2018 Borders Book Festival gets underway today (14th June), with more than 100 events for readers of all ages over a four-day period culminating on Sunday 17th June. The Times will be reporting on events at this year’s festival as they unfold via its Facebook and Twitter feeds, and free copies of the print edition will be made available to attendees on Saturday (16th June) and Sunday (17th June) from a branded marquee at the festival’s entrance.

Almost as soon as the Borders Book Festival draws to a close on Sunday, attention will turn to the big screen, with the 72nd Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) kicking-off on Wednesday 20th June and running until Sunday 1st July. The Sunday Times Scotland will be the official media partner of this year’s festival – which will this year host some 650 screenings including a weekend of free films in the capital’s St Andrew Square gardens – with on-screen branding prior to every screening during the 12-day festival.

A special event and drinks reception for Times+ subscribers is also being held to coincide with the world premiere of powerful drama, The Parting Glass, the directorial debut of Stephen Moyer, which follows a family reeling from the death of their younger sister.

Stars of the big screen will also likely feature at the next event to be sponsored by The Times Scotland, as the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship returns to St Andrews from Thursday 4th until Sunday 7th October. The Times Scotland is the exclusive media partner for the championship and will publish a 12-page supplement including exclusive editorial content, interviews, fixtures, and maps, as well as having a presence on site in St Andrews for the duration of the championship.

Richard Bogie, managing director of News Scotland, said: “This year sees the most varied and vibrant programme of commercial media partnerships for our titles to date, and I’m proud to be associated with what are blue riband events in the fields of literature, film, and golf. We have created bespoke packages of editorial and commercial support for each partner, helping showcase those events and their programmes to our readers and subscribers, as well as reaching new audiences at home and abroad. I’m really looking forward to watching it all unfold over the next few weeks and months.”
