Exclusive Clydeside Distillery tour leaves Glasgow Taxis’ drivers in good spirits
GLASGOW Taxis’ drivers were happy to let someone else do the driving for once as they enjoyed a belated Christmas night out at The Clydeside Distillery.
The whisky producer, based on the banks of the River Clyde, officially opened its doors in November, and drivers and office staff received a warm welcome at the distillery, which has already become one of Glasgow’s major tourist attractions.
As well as producing spirits, the multi-million pound development, located in a former pumphouse between the Riverside Museum and the SSE Hydro, is home to a specialist whisky shop, café and visitor centre, while whisky lovers can take a tour of the plant and spend time in the tasting room too.
Speaking on behalf of the Glasgow Taxis Ltd. executive committee, Glasgow Taxis chair, Stephen Flynn, said: “We are always keen to support the city’s businesses – especially when they are as exciting and ambitious as this. The Clydeside Distillery is a fantastic addition to the banks of the River Clyde. Our drivers will no doubt be spreading the word far and wide to their passengers.
“All our drivers and staff enjoyed their visit and a well-earned chance to relax after a hectic festive period.”
Bridgeen Mullen, visitor centre manager at the Clydeside Distillery, added: “It was great to welcome the team at Glasgow Taxis to the distillery and I’m glad they enjoyed themselves. Like all our visitors, they seemed to be very impressed with the impact this is already having on the Clydeside.
“Their support will be a wonderful boost while we continue to establish the distillery as a popular venue for both tourists to the city and the people of Glasgow.”
