AN Argyll couple has launched a podcast, online magazine and interactive website showcasing Scotland to an international audience.
Imagine Alba is the creation of Michelle McAnally and Rab Woods, who use a multimedia approach that highlights the many facets of Scottish culture and landscape through features, photography, videos and a bi-weekly podcast.
The free online magazine, www.imaginealba.com keeps readers up to date on news, features, events and articles about culture, leisure, history and travel. Membership to the site is free, and includes access to bonus material and forums – for everyone from Outlander fans to genealogists.
On the Imagine Alba podcast, the duo shares the story of Scotland through original features and music. Topics on the podcast so far include Scottish holiday traditions, Celtic Connections, Robert Burns and Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat.
Michelle is a journalist, broadcaster and archaeologist, and, since moving to the country five years ago to marry Rab, a Glasgow native, she has worked around Scotland writing and excavating.
“When I moved here, it felt like coming home,” Michelle said. “It seemed natural for Rab and I to combine our skills to produce a project about a subject for which we are both passionate. Scotland is very popular right now, especially in America where Outlander has become such a sensation, and it was just named the most welcoming country in the world by ‘Rough Guides’. I think the world wants to know more, and we love telling the real story of Scotland.”
Rab is a graphic and web designer and a musician who has lived on the west coast for 15 years.
He said: “I have lived in Scotland all my life, but when I met Michelle I started to see my country through a fresh pair of eyes. I hope I can bring an experienced perspective to our readers and listeners and help give them an idea of what the real Scotland looks and sounds like.”
