MUCKMEDDEN Events, organisers of ‘Muckin’ Good’ mountain bike events, are delighted to announce that their Fair City Enduro mountain bike race will be an Enduro World Series (EWS) qualifier event in 2018.
There are 50 official EWS Qualifiers spread across 25 countries and four continents in 2018 and Fair City Enduro is the only event staged in Scotland.
The sixth annual fancy-dress mountain bike race, which will be held in the ‘Fair City’ of Perth, Scotland, on 27 October 2018, is now widely regarded as one of the top mountain bike Enduros in the UK, thanks to a mix of world-class mountain biking and some truly outlandish outfits.
Aaron Gray, organiser at Muckmedden Events, was delighted to receive the news.
He said: “I’m ecstatic that Fair City Enduro has been selected as Scotland’s only EWS qualifier this year.
“This is a great opportunity to not only showcase the quality of mountain biking we have to offer in Perthshire to a wider audience, but also to promote Tayside and Fife as a mountain bike destination in its own right.
“It’s no secret that Scotland boasts some truly world-class mountain bike trails and I’m delighted that this part of the country is now being recognised internationally.”
Enduro is recognised as the fastest-growing discipline in mountain bike racing, currently attracting big-budget factory racing teams and high-profile riders and generating a huge amount of media attention globally.
It is a testament to the growing reputation of Perthshire-based Muckmedden Events that Fair City Enduro was selected as one of an exclusive group of qualifier events for the 2019 Enduro World Series.

Aaron was keen to point out that the whole ethos of the fun-focused event will stay the same: “I didn’t want anything to detract from the light-hearted and family-focused feel of the event and I’m pleased to say that the EWS element is only relevant to those riders who are looking to achieve a place on the fabled Enduro World Series Reserve List.
“Those riders looking to dress up like Batman can be assured of a place on the start line. In fact, I’d love to see Batman qualify for the EWS; let’s make it happen!”
Taking place across four continents in 2018, the 50 EWS qualifier events will enable the fastest riders an opportunity to secure entry to their chosen EWS races.
Enduro Mountain Bike Association (EMBA) members can gain points based on their results at these local races, with their best three results of the year totalled to generate their global qualifying ranking for the following year.

Muckmedden’s 2018 events line-up also includes two family-friendly mountain bike festivals to bookend the school summer holidays, starting with Cream o’ the Croft at Comrie Croft in Perthshire from 15th to 17th June and The Eliminator in Newburgh Fife from 31st August to 2nd September.
Both festivals feature a host of mountain bike races from Enduros to Downhill, as well as many non-biking activities. The festivals are both set to attract 2,000-plus attendees across the weekend with organisers reporting record-breaking figures so far.
With entry figures significantly higher than in previous years, entrants are being encouraged to enter early and take advantage of the ‘earlybird’ rates which are available until 8th February*.

Kicking-off the 2018 season is family favourite Cream o’ the Croft, which returns to award-winning campsite and trail centre Comrie Croft, Perthshire, from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 June 2018. Next year’s festival is expected to attract 2,000-plus visitors, of all ages, to Highland Perthshire across the weekend, with attendees ranging from world-class mountain bike racers, to parents looking for a festival that will entertain the whole family.
The weekend will once again be centred around four main elements; mountain biking, the outdoors, food and drink and live music. The main event on the Saturday is COTC Enduro, which will utilise every inch of one of the UK’s best trail centres, to test the mettle of mountain bikers on a variety of timed stages, ranging from a super-tough Black Downhill, to an exciting Dual Slalom spectator stage, in a bid to find ‘The Cream o’ the Croft 2018′.
Mini enduro and toddler bike races will take place on the fun and easier trails and give younger riders an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and race faces. For those looking to take things even less seriously, there’s always the silly bike races such as the crowd-pleasing Extreme Balance Bike Championships.
Non-bikers are assured that, as with all Muckmedden festivals, the weekend will cater as much to non-riders as it does to mountain bikers, with several excellent live bands, kid’s entertainers and fun attractions. This ranges from a pedal-powered cinema to a giant water slide. A smorgasbord of top-notch, locally-sourced food and drink will also be on offer over the weekend courtesy of the team at Hansen’s Kitchen and Comrie Croft’s own Tea Garden, showcasing some of the world-class produce available in the local area.

From Friday 31 August to Sunday 2 September 2018, the Muckmedden team head to the banks of the stunning River Tay for the second of their mountain bike festivals. This time, it’s The Eliminator Mountain Bike Festival at Parkhill Farm in Newburgh, Fife.
The spectator-friendly weekender festival transforms the ordinary working farm into a festival venue and boasts “the most exciting mountain bike racing known to man or cow”. With some thrilling and innovative races including a kid’s Mini Duathlon, recognised as Scotland’s only Cross-Country Eliminator; an off-road Duathlon called ‘The Muckathlon’ and the spectacular ‘Eliminator Head2Head Downhill Mountain Bike Race’, this is a fantastic event for spectators and racers alike.
The Eliminator is expected to attract 2,000-plus attendees to enjoy the on-site camping, adrenaline-fuelled bike racing and many other family focused activities on offer. Once again, non-biking friends and family can expect an incredible weekend of live music and fun attractions ranging from a climbing wall to a kid’s disco, while mountain bikers will get their festival fix with the various races across the weekend.

The third and final ‘Muckin’ Good Event’ of 2018 is the Fair City Enduro (FCE). The Halloween fancy dress-themed Enduro race is rated as one of the best Mountain Bike Enduro races in the UK and returns this year as Scotland’s only Enduro World Series qualifier event. A combination of breath-taking trails, breath-taking views and even more breath-taking outfits.
Muckmedden know how to keep the event fun with optional (but encouraged) fancy dress. The FCE entry list has been graced by many ‘A-Listers’ over the years and is truly a sight to behold.
