EDINBURGH-based digital comms agency, Represent, has become the first creative agency to receive a Green Tourism award after implementing new business-wide environmental policies.
In order to gain Green Tourism accreditation, companies must demonstrate a commitment to reducing their carbon footprint by decreasing water and energy consumption, reducing waste and sourcing eco-friendly products.
Andrea Nicholas, Green Tourism managing director, presented Represent employees with a silver award at their offices on Calton Road.
Speaking of the award, Represent managing director, Judith O’Leary, said: “We’re thrilled to be the first creative agency to have received this accreditation. More and more of our clients are seeking to not only implement eco-friendly policies within their own companies, but to work with providers who share their commitment to protecting the environment.
“Sustainable business is a key driver for Represent, and we are committed to making a positive social impact. Recently we have worked pro bono for not-for-profits and raised over £3k for Social Bite’s Sleep in the Park.
“We’re very proud to be setting the industry standard when it comes to championing sustainable business practice, and have our sights set on the coveted Gold award next.”
Andrea Nicholas said: “Welcoming a creative agency into our group of over 2,000 award holders from across the UK, Europe, North America and Africa is an exciting step for Green Tourism. Increasingly, environmentally-conscious companies are looking to work with businesses that can demonstrate a similar ethos.
“For creative agencies looking to develop relationships within this emerging market, receiving accreditation could be a great advantage.
“We were really impressed with how swiftly the team, under the guidance of Represent’s office manager, Shirley Murray, implemented our suggested changes across the company.”
