SITES for potential housing and business development have been published as work progresses on Moray’s Local Development Plan 2020.
Today, Moray Council’s Planning & Regulatory Services Committee approved the Main Issues Report for a 12-week consultation period.
From mid-January, planning officers will exhibit at venues across Moray using use touch screens, interactive mapping and short videos to highlight the main planning issues and encourage discussion on what lies ahead for Moray over the next ten-to-15 years.
The Main Issues Report also lays out the challenges facing the council, including planning for new or expanded infrastructure and services, such as health services and schools. Neighbours of sites where new developments are being considered will be notified of the proposals near to them.
Chair of Moray Council’s Planning & Regulatory Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, said it’s essential that residents from all over Moray get involved.
“What we’re planning for now is the future of Moray, so it’s really important that residents visit the exhibitions we’re bringing to towns and villages across the area, join in the discussion on social media or respond in writing to this consultation.
“This report sets out preferred housing and business sites for development as far ahead as 2035, and we value all input on how we can design these to make best use of the land we have, encourage physical activity, support the needs of our ageing population and invest in our economy.”
