ONE of Scotland’s best-known online magazines is hoping to hit the charts with its own satirical political pop song.
Bella Caledonia has launched a track on iTunes for download with an accompanying video by Edinburgh-based independent filmmaker, Bonnie Prince Bob (who also created cult satirical hits, James Frances Murphy: Saviour of the Union and Jeremy Bernard Corbyn: What Was Done).
The ‘single’ – performed by the Brexmas Puddings – is out now and Bella Caledonia editor, Mike Small, said: “These are times of unprecedented political crisis and upheaval. Working with the Brexmas Puddings takes us away from text and into new forms. Sometimes, the political world becomes so weird and out of control that new forms are necessary. The song is funny and brings a sense of humour to otherwise dark times.
“The Brexit situation is so catastrophic the only thing left to do is to laugh at these people.”
