Scotland Tonight’s Rona Dougall to chair panel discussion and public Q&A at Glasgow Caledonian University on September 18

THE Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) is holding a Town Hall style public meeting in Glasgow on Monday 18th September between 6.30 and 8pm.

Chaired by Rona Dougall (STV Scotland Tonight), attendees will have the opportunity to hear from and question some of the most high-profile names in Scottish media and the regulator of the majority of newspapers and magazines in the UK.

Along with IPSO chair and former Appeal Court Judge, Sir Alan Moses, the panel includes two of Scotland’s best known newspaper editors, Graeme Smith of The Herald and Murray Foote, group editor, Media Scotland (Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail Ltd).

They will be joined by Ben McConville, head of Department, Social Sciences, Media and Journalism at GCU.

Commenting on the roadshow, which is IPSO’s third and follows on from successful events in Birmingham and Manchester earlier this year, Sir Alan Moses said: “Three years on from the formation of the Independent Press Standards Organisation, I believe that a vigorous, and trenchant press is as important now as it has ever been.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in how the press works and is regulated to come to the meeting and contribute to what I hope will be a stimulating evening.”

The event takes place at the Hamish Wood Building, Glasgow Caledonian University, is free and refreshments will be provided.
