A LEADING safety training firm has played host to a group of youngsters participating in a specialist employability programme, highlighting the importance of training future talent.
Falck Safety Services UK (Falck), which has 35 training centres across the world, welcomed the group of 16-19 year-olds to its state-of-the-art premises in Aberdeen, participating in the Positive Destinations initiative, as part of the Denis Law StreetSport programme.
In partnership with Nexen, StreetSport offers youngsters the opportunity to participate in a two-year programme tailored to meet the criteria of their desired career path or further education pathway, offering relevant courses and qualifications to strengthen their employability.
As part of the company’s commitment to supporting the initiative, Falck offered two, half-day bespoke skills and training courses, specially tailored for the youngsters and delivered by its team of expert instructors.
The first course, which was held in July, included a sea survival drill offering participants the opportunity to carry out a range of hand-on activities; basic first aid practical training; and an introduction to the oil and gas industry, featuring a range of practical and theory exercises.
Participants will return in December to complete a second half-day of training featuring fire awareness and working at height. In 2018, refresher and additional courses will be carried out.

“The programme is a great way for teenagers to have the opportunity to participate in producing real work within an industry standard environment. It’s great we can support our long standing Training Management Services client, Nexen, with this campaign and I hope that the first part of the training gave them a good insight into our Aberdeen site, and look forward to welcoming them back in the future.”
