Construction firm, Balmore Group Scotland, becomes the latest name to back the Inverclyde marine motorsport weekend being held later this month
AS the countdown continues to the second P1 Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea later this month, the promoters have received another boost in the shape of a new, local, commercial partner.
Balmore Group (SCOTLAND), a leading specialist in building maintenance, industrial services and UAV inspections, has signed up to support the free-to-attend event being held on Greenock’s stunning waterfront on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June.
Co-hosted by Riverside Inverclyde and Inverclyde Council with support from EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, the event will be the second round of the P1 UK race series and has attracted support from a variety of local firms as well as national companies based in the area.
The Port Glasgow-based Balmore Group (SCOTLAND) will benefit from its partnership with Powerboat P1 during the race weekend with brand exposure that includes marketing collateral, the official event programme, PA announcements and a bespoke trade stand.
P1 managing director, Robert Wicks, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome a new name from a new industry, with Balmore Group Scotland being a great addition to our growing portfolio of sponsors and partners.
“Partnerships are at the heart of our business model and we’re really pleased to be welcoming Balmore and our other partners to the 2017 Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea as we look to continue to grow interest in our sport and thrilling entertainment we offer.
“It is also important for us to help Greenock and Inverclyde showcase all that they have to offer and highlight that it’s a great place to live, visit and do business.”
The Balmore Group sponsorship has followed support from a number of local businesses – including CalMac, River Clyde Homes, Synergy Lifting Solutions, Ogilvie Homes, Cardwell Garden Centre, James Watt Dock Marina and Peel Port Clydeport.
Talking about Balmore’s move to Kelburn Business Park in Port Glasgow, managing director, Victor MacKay, says: “Our relocation from Glasgow to bright, new premises in Inverclyde heralds an exciting time and optimism for the future.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity of working with local people from the Port Glasgow and Greenock areas, and to growing all aspects of our business – specifically the innovative market of aerial inspections using state-of-the-art drone technology.”
Taking place on June 24th and 25th, the Greenock event will deliver a weekend of high-speed sport and family entertainment, with a fleet of P1 Panther race boats and jet skis competing in the P1 SuperStock and AquaX championships.
The two-mile race course will be close-to-shore at Greenock’s Esplanade, which will be transformed into the Esplanade Showcase with exhibition stands and marquees linked to VisitScotland’s Year of History, Heritage & Archaeology.
This year, Musselburgh father and daughter duo, Davie and Ashleigh Finlayson, will fly the flag for Scotland in the P1 SuperStock powerboat series competing in the ‘Spirit of Inverclyde’ race boat.
In addition to the tens of thousands of spectators expected over the two days, the race action will be broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK and internationally in more than 150 countries.
