EMBER Technology has won the contract with a transport consortium to help develop the software for a service that aims to revolutionise travel for young people in Scotland.
The innovative application will take advantage of all available transport options in the user’s locality – everything from walking, cycling, buses and trains to car and bike share schemes – alongside concessions and discounts – to provide one single, optimised transport network – without the use of a car.
Co-designed by young people, the service intends to offer personalised information, offers, rewards and tailored recommendations to enhance their travel options all on one platform, even when there are a number
of separate travel providers.
The early version will be tested in a six-month trial with around 100 users from October 2017 to March 2018 in Scotland. Accessible on tablets and desktops the platform will take a ‘mobile first’ approach as the users are 16-25 year-olds.
“The consortium, led by ESP Group, were very impressed with Ember’s level of relevant experience and skills highlighted in their response to our brief. We are thrilled to have them on board and look forward to working with them,” said David Smith, project manager.
Joe Henry, co-founder of Ember Technology, said: “We’re pleased to be part of such a strong consortium that will make transport much more streamlined and personalised for 16-25 year-olds.”
