MEDIA Scotland – publishers of the Daily Record, Sunday Mail, Scottish Business Insider and 17 local titles – have launched a unique training course for communications professionals.
The one-day course, Media Relations and Content Creation in a Digital Age, is designed to provide PR and marketing practitioners with all the information they need to make sure they are interacting with the media and public as effectively as possible.
Led by senior journalists, it offers an insider guide to modern-day newsrooms and media relations in a digital age, including how to use video, how and who to pitch ideas to, press release writing dos and don’ts, and the different editorial approaches taken to print and digital content.
As a publisher of market-leading print and digital titles, Media Scotland is ideally placed to offer unrivalled training in content creation and media relations.
The courses are hosted by Media Scotland columnist and head of content services, Clare Johnston, who, in addition to her 20 years experience in journalism, has worked with major Scottish businesses and organisations including NHS 24, Visit Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland and the Scottish Government, to deliver engaging editorial campaigns that deliver on objectives.
Courses are hosted monthly at Media Scotland’s offices in Glasgow, but trainers can also run bespoke courses at a location convenient to clients.
Clare Johnston, said: “Newsrooms have changed radically to adapt to digital demands, but we have not noticed a significant change in media relations activity over the same period.
“Our media relations course tells those working in PR and comms everything they need to know about multimedia newsrooms and how to make the most of opportunities for coverage, including video.
“It’s a unique chance to gain insight into how modern newsrooms actually work and how to meet their changing requirements.”
