Trip dates: 23rd-27th January 2017
SIX of Scotland’s top professional women from leading and emerging digital companies are to visit the creative hubs of London and Berlin this week as part of TRCmedia’s Special Edition training programme.
TRCmedia is one of the top training providers in the UK for the television and digital industries.
Now in its fourth year of operation, the Special Edition programme seeks to address the under-representation of women at board level in the Scottish digital sector.
Through a series of monthly sessions focusing on themes ranging from boosting confidence and improving entrepreneurial skills to expanding professional networks, the programme aims to set the female delegates on a career trajectory that ultimately leads to senior management and the boardroom.
This year’s delegates come from a range of disciplines from some of Scotland’s top digital and tech agencies, including The Leith Agency, Whitespace, Signal and accounting software success story, FreeAgent.
The international trip is the culmination of a six-month programme, allowing the digital professionals to put their training into practice.
Meetings scheduled across the week-long trip to London and Berlin will give the delegates the opportunity to meet some of the UK and Germany’s most pioneering women in digital, amongst them Cilla Snowball CBE and Doteveryone CEO, Rachel Coldicutt, along with market leaders such as Google and Soundcloud.
There will also be the opportunity for promotion of Scotland’s thriving digital and technology industries, as four of the delegates will be speaking at a special ‘Scotland’s Top Women in Digital’ edition of Berlin co-working space Betahaus’ popular weekly community breakfast event.
Says TRCmedia’s Caroline Newson, project manager of the Special Edition programme, on the decision to visit the German capital as part of the field trip: “Berlin is a new territory for TRC, but it seemed like an obvious choice given the city’s world-renowned startup scene and growing reputation as a hotbed for tech and digital entrepreneurship.
“We’re delighted with the high calibre of meetings lined up for our Special Edition delegates and look forward to forging new partnerships in Berlin, working towards future collaborations between Scotland and the ‘Silicon Valley of Europe.’“
Special Edition is funded by BBC, Channel 4, Scottish Enterprise and Creative Scotland and supported by Wire.
This is the first of three international field trips organised by TRCmedia in 2017.
In March, delegates of the Cross Creative programme will be flying to Silicon Valley in San Francisco to meet with some of the world leaders in the tech and digital communities.
A group of Scotland’s leading independent television executives will be taking an international field trip to New York and Washington to meet with U.S commissioners as part of TRC’s International Development Programme.
