Surprise visitors, Emily Middlemas and Ryan Laurie were among the crowd as The 1975, Bastille, Blossoms, Tom Odell, Kaiser Chiefs and James TW raise the roof at SSE Hydro
GLASGOW’S SSE Hydro played host to some of the hottest acts in music last night (Sunday, 18 December) at Clyde 1 LIVE, thanks to Glasgow and the West’s number 1 radio station.
Joining Clyde 1 listeners in the crowd were surprise visitors the X Factor 2016 finalist, Emily Middlemas, and fellow contestant, Ryan Lawrie, all enjoying a night of non-stop, live entertainment from some of the best acts around at Scotland’s premier music venue.
Kicking off Clyde 1 LIVE 2016 was The 1975, the talented quartet performed material from their 2016 album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. Up next were Mancunian rockers Blossoms, whose set included songs from their self-titled number one album.
Making their Clyde 1 LIVE debut were Kaiser Chiefs who took the tempo up a notch with tracks from their latest album, Stay Together, as well as some classic tunes from their rich back catalogue.
Taking to the stage for the fourth consecutive year was Clyde 1 favourite, Tom Odell, who performed songs from his latest album, Wrong Crowd. He was followed by 2016 breakthrough singer-songwriter James TW who treated the crowd to a rendition of his most famous song, When You Love Someone.
Bastille brought the evening to a colossal close with an incredible set which had the crowd on their feet singing along to songs from their brand new album, Wild World, as well as some of their best-loved tracks from the highly-acclaimed album, Bad Blood.
Members of the audience got the chance to showcase their musical talent on the big screen’s ‘anthem cam’, which featured a couple of times during the gig!
Clyde 1 Breakfast Show host, George Bowie, was on hand to help host Clyde 1 LIVE. Speaking about the night, he said: “What a fantastic evening of amazing live music put on by Clyde 1 and sponsored by The Hub EK. Each act was incredible and brought something really different to the stage, all lapped up by our amazing audience. It really did feel like a mini festival!
“Thanks to The 1975, Bastille, Blossoms, Tom Odell, Kaiser Chiefs and James TW for making it such an unforgettable night and special thanks to all our brilliant listeners who helped to create such an electric atmosphere on the night!”
