FIVE victims of trauma will mark a huge step towards recovery on Saturday (July 30, 2016) when they receive award certificates from Thriving Survivors (TS).
The five are the first group to have completed a 12-week recovery course run by TS, a social enterprise recently launched under the auspices of Entrepreneurial Spark. TS is currently seeking charitable status.
Local councillor, Maureen Burke, will make the presentations at the Phoenix Centre, 5 Shandwick Street, Easterhouse, Glasgow, G34 9DP at 12.30.
The five are: Lynsey McGrath, Cecilia Layden, Toyosi Lanii, Esther Idowu and Lanre Akeredolu.
Ashley Scotland, chief executive of TS, said the awards ceremony was a landmark moment for the new organisation but “more importantly a vital step for the five victims, all of whom have, like me, seen dark times in their lives but have summoned the courage to deal with these issues”.

Earlier the same day, Ashley Scotland will take the plunge to raise funds for Thriving a Survivors.
At 10am, she will make a 164ft sponsored bungee jump from the Titan crane at Finnieston, Glasgow.
