Media Release: Blaze staff on mission to raise funds for international charity

STAFF from a leading provider of fire control and safety solutions are appealing to members of the public to help support them on their quest to raise vital funds for an international charity.

Employees from Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, which is headquartered in Laurencekirk and  offers innovative and type approved solutions to clients in the  greenfield and brownfield markets, are actively raising funds for the Vine Trust.

Proceeds will be used to help its Tanzanian partners, Tanzanian Women Research Foundation (TAWREF), build homes for vulnerable children and orphans.

Vine Trust is an international interdenominational volunteering charity, which works to enable volunteers to make a real and significant difference to some of the poorest children and communities in the world.

Funds raised by Blaze, which employs 31 full-time members of staff and 40 sub-contractors, will provide an integrated programme to help orphans and street children to grow up in a safe and trusted environment; and to have food, clothes and clean water.

Since the end of 2015, staff have been taking part in a number of fundraising initiatives, and kickstarted their quest by completing the Beast Race, a gruelling 10km obstacle race held in Banchory. Other planned activities include a ‘blaze bake off’, sports tournament and BBQ.

Friends and family of Blaze employees have also been lending a helping hand to raise funds. Andrew Johnson’s wife, Falda, and her mum, Susan Dunbar, have just completed four half Marathons.

The duo completed the Angus Half Marathon, Balmoral 15-mile trail race, Mallaig Half Marathon and Loch Leven Half Marathon, raising £1,020.

To date, the team from Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, have raised more than £2,800, and hope to reach a target of £3,700.

Once this is accomplished, a team of staff volunteers from Blaze will travel out to Tanzania to help the local partners build the TAWREF house to provide for some of the most vulnerable children with a home, an education and the opportunity, ultimately, of vocation, a hope and a future.

Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, finance manager, Ann Johnson, said: “The firm positively encourages and supports staff to get involved in this type of activity, and we are delighted that so many members of our team are getting on board to raise funds for the charity. We are grateful to Falda and her mum for getting involved and helping to raise more money.

“Funds will provide an integrated programme to help orphans and street children to grow up in a safe and trusted environment and to have the basics in life that we so often take for granted.”
