FOLLOWING recent reports – including here – of a plane being ‘trashed’ by a group of men on a stag party, Georgia Foster, an alcohol reduction expert, is calling on all relevant parties to come together and tackle the problem of drunkeness, before lives are put at risk.
Georgia Foster – who helps people to drink less alcohol on an one-to-one basis and through her 7 Days To Drink Less programme – is urging action on the issue.
The alcohol reduction expert said: “Over the past few years, hundreds of people have been arrested for their behaviour on board an aircraft. 442 people were held between March 2014 and March 2016, according to police statistics, but that figure could be much higher.”
Georgia Foster understands that passengers start their holiday as soon as they arrive at the airport, and she also understands that some passengers will have a couple of drinks to calm their nerves due to their fear of flying.
She added: “The statistics speak for themselves: in the past two years, the problem of disruptive passengers has escalated, and there is no sign of this reversing.”
Georgia Foster has said there has been many suggestions in tackling the problem, which includes limiting the amount of alcohol a bar is allowed to serve each passenger, which she feels is unrealistic.
She also feels the idea of banning alcohol on board aircrafts is not fair on the well-behaved passengers and could put flight prices up.
