Native Dundonian lands spot on mid-morning show
IT’S a family affair for Lynne Duffus, daughter of the late comedian and Tay FM legend, George Duffus, who hits the airwaves this week as the new daytime presenter (10am to 2pm) on Tay FM.
With 20 years of radio broadcasting under her belt, Lynne brings a fresh energy to the station, taking listeners from the breakfast show, Wake Up With Webster (6am to 10am), and entertaining them right the way through to 2 O’Clock Anthems (2pm to 3pm).
Lynne’s appointment is a homecoming – she credits Tay FM for kicking off her radio career by offering her an internship when she was fresh out of studying her HND in Radio Broadcasting.
However, even that wasn’t her first spell at the station, as she was brought in at the tender age of five by her famous father, a Tay FM presenter at the time, to record ‘whacky jingles’.
Originally, Lynne set her sights on becoming an actress, studying Theatre Studies and English Literature at Glasgow University.
She soon swapped acting for airwaves as her flair for radio was spotted. She has worked at a number of stations including a ten-year stint at the British Forces Broadcasting Service which allowed her to broadcast from a number of locations ranging from Buckinghamshire to Belize.
She returned to Dundee five years ago and set up an interiors business, ‘Lovely Interiors’, and a shop ‘Lovely Things’, after studying interior design in her spare time.
Lynne is a regular personality on the awards and events circuit, hosting a number of events across Dundee and further afield.
A keen social media user, and a self-confessed Facebook fan, mum-of-one Lynne urges her listeners to get in touch via this medium to help shape her daytime show.
Commenting on her appointment, Lynne said: “It is so exciting to be back at the station where it all started. I have a huge fondness for Tay FM, as a born and bred Dundonian I grew up listening to the station, so to be presenting my own show is a dream come true.
“I’m really looking forward to making this show my own and having fun with our fabulous listeners. I can’t wait to share my tales with listeners and hear what’s going on in their lives.
“Facebook is absolutely brilliant for this, so I urge everyone to share their stories and funny pictures with me so I can keep people entertained no matter where they are, in the office or at home!”
John Milne, content director Tay FM, said: “On behalf of everyone here at Tay FM we would like to warmly welcome Lynne back to the station. She is a real character who knows both the station and the region really well. She’s a brilliant addition to the team who will entertain listeners with her great sense of humour and quirky anecdotes!”
Tune into Tay FM from 10am to 2pm every weekday to hear Lynne’s show.
