FORMER Tarbert Academy and Lochgilphead High School pupil, Jennifer Nicoll, has been appointed area manager for Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in Argyll and the Islands.
Originally from Skipness, Jennifer has a financial services background and has worked for a variety of international and UK based organisations, most recently in Edinburgh.
Working from HIE’s Lochgilphead office, she will oversee the organisation’s work across Argyll and Bute, Arran and Cumbrae.
Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I am delighted to be back in Argyll and working on the area’s continued economic and community development.
“There is so much activity across the region, with many new and growing businesses and dynamic communities helping to put the area on the international stage.
“There are, of course, many challenges too, not least the declining population in some parts of Argyll and Bute and the need to attract and retain young people in particular.
“However, I do think the area is well placed to face those challenges and I am confident we can make real progress in the years ahead. I very much look forward to being part of that process.”
