INTEGRATED communications agency, Citrus:Mix, has underlined its ambitions for growth with a key acquisition.
The Aberdeen-based business has purchased the emergency response (ER) division of fellow city agency, Mearns & Gill, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal includes the transfer of two specialist staff members to Citrus:Mix and adds five North Sea oil and gas operators to a strong existing base of energy sector clients.
Already well-established in the provision of ER services, the addition expands the capabilities and capacity of Citrus:Mix at an important stage in the evolution of the company.
Founded in 2012, through the merger of two well-established agencies, the firm provides a range of services across creative marketing, digital, PR, ER and communication training. The team works across a growing range of sectors from retail and property to professional services, construction and energy.
Managing director, Paul Smith, said: “We are delighted to have completed an acquisition which strengthens Citrus:Mix. This adds to the expertise and experience we have in-house as well as highlighting our commitment to oil and gas clients, both existing and new.
“With the team providing ER services to operators with a range of North Sea assets, this represents a significant deal for us and supports the development of our own longstanding work in that sphere.
“Through a specialist team we offer services from advice and guidance through to full scale incident response, tailored to each unique set of circumstances.”
In addition to providing 24-7 emergency response to oil and gas operators, in support of offshore assets and onshore facilities, the team has led responses to a wide range of incidents ranging from workplace and construction site accidents to environmental issues, medical matters, police investigations, HR-related matters and industrial relations.
The acquisition adds communications director, Doug Allsop, and communications manager, Richard Thomson, to the Citrus:Mix staff. With combined experience of more than 40 years in ER, both are recognised as experts in their field.
Paul Smith added: “The arrival of Doug and Richard is very welcome. Having worked not only in ER, but also in wider oil and gas industry communication, both internal and external as well as through the delivery of very well respected training programmes, we value the contribution they are already making.”
Michael Wilson, managing director at Mearns & Gill, said: “We are now firmly focused on providing integrated and creative marketing solutions for our clients in brand, digital, print and event management, while the former ER division is in good hands with Citrus:Mix. We wish the team all the very best for the future.”
Citrus:Mix is part of the Jasmine Holdings group of companies, comprising seven Aberdeen-based businesses.
