EAST Kilbride laundry and dry cleaning specialist, Cathkin Clean, has launched an exciting, new online cleaning service for UGG wearers – thanks to a second round of funding from UK Steel Enterprise.
Begins a spokesperson: “UKSE, the Tata Steel subsidiary set up to help growing companies operating in traditional steel producing areas realise their full potential, boost the local economy and create jobs, previously helped fund the company’s move to new premises in 2007.
“This additional financial backing arrives as the dry cleaning arm of the company, William Munro Cleaners, celebrates 150 years in business. The retail dry cleaning brand was rescued from administration by Cathkin Clean in 2009.
“The funding has assisted the cleaning company in launching a specialist UGG boot restoration service to prolong the life of the fashionable footwear. UGG lovers from across the UK will be able to send their boots in need of some TLC to be cleaned, fluffed and returned by post.”
Scott Webb, regional executive, UK Steel Enterprise, said: “As a Scottish company with such an established history, it has been a pleasure to witness the continuing drive and vision of Cathkin Clean since our first involvement with the team in 2007.
“Nine years later, the company continues to demonstrate an innovative approach to business development and we are proud to play a role in their ongoing success.”
As the company has evolved to introduce safer and more ecological cleaning processes, the team has invested in skills training including specialist SVQ laundry and dry cleaning courses over the past two years.
Gavin Smith, managing director, Cathkin Clean, said: “As William Munro Cleaners is celebrating its 150th anniversary, we wanted to mark the occasion by introducing a fresh, new service, and the freepost option makes UGG boot cleaning accessible throughout the UK with the use of a web-based platform.
“UKSE’s support has enabled us to embellish our offering and improve our processes throughout the company.”
