INVERNESS-based energy and sustainability consultants, esave, are set to expand into new markets after securing a £38,000 financial investment from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) towards a £192,000 software development project.
The initiative will create a new software development manager post and is expected to increase the company’s turnover by more than 40 per cent in the next three years.
esave was founded in 1999 by Neil Watson and George Michie to provide specialist advice and management consultancy services on all aspects of energy and environmental services to businesses. It employs 17 staff and has plans to increase that to 20 by the end of the year.
The global market for industrial energy management systems and services, including software components, is forecast to grow from $11.3 billion in 2013 to $22.4 billion in 2020.
esave’s services include advising organisations on energy and utilities procurement and strategy, energy management and carbon foot printing as well as supporting business to achieve accreditation standards, such as ISO 14001.
The company’s ‘ensensus’ software allows businesses to monitor and forecast their energy usage and costs as they develop and apply measures to increase efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
The upgrade will provide esave customers with a competitive advantage in energy management. It will also enable esave to increase its international customer base.
Susan Addison, head of business growth at HIE, said: “Energy management and environmental reporting are becoming increasingly important to businesses for both financial management and social responsibility. Climate change, energy security and affordability present challenges for many organisations.
“esave is well placed to service these market needs. The company is a valuable employer of high quality jobs in Inverness. The management is clearly ambitious and the company has huge growth potential both in the UK and internationally. I am very pleased we are able to support this development and look forward to continuing to work with esave.”
Neil Watson, esave chief executive, said: “We very much welcome HIE’s support for esave’s business. This investment enables us to accelerate development of our energy monitoring software and increase the range of services we offer to our customers, both nationally, and internationally”.
