AYRSHIRE College welcomes the appointment of its chair, Willie Mackie, to the board of Scottish Enterprise as a non-executive member.
The Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Economy, John Swinney, has appointed Willie Mackie and businessperson, Carmel Teusner, to Scottish Enterprise’s board.
Scottish Enterprise aims to make Scotland more globally competitive and has statutory powers to promote and assist economic development and enterprise.
Willie has over 36 years of experience in the financial services sector and holds a number of positions within the Ayrshire business and education community. As well as his role as chair of Ayrshire College, he sits on the boards of Skills Development Scotland, Colleges Scotland and College Development Network. He is also chair of Taste Ayrshire and a past President of Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also a member of the Ayrshire Economic Partnership.
Mr Swinney said: “I am delighted to welcome both these new board members to Scottish Enterprise. I’m sure Scottish Enterprise will benefit hugely from the wide range of experience and expertise that these appointments will bring. I wish both these appointees well in their new posts.”
Willie Mackie said: “It is a great privilege to be joining the board of Scottish Enterprise. I am really looking forward to supporting the board of management and the Executive team to deliver on their strategy for economic development.”
Both appointments will last for two years and Ayrshire College wishes Willie well in his forthcoming work with Scottish Enterprise.
