IT’S beginning to sound a lot like Christmas! Blair Castle is getting into the festive mood on 13th December by hosting a Christmas carol concert in its magnificent ballroom.
What better way to begin the countdown to Christmas in this traditional, family, fun way?
Perthshire’s Jambourée Choir will kick-start the fun at 7pm. Refreshments will be provided.
Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children. Proceeds to Marie Curie.
In addition, the castle’s bagpipe-playing Santa will return on the 13th and 20th to listen to what boys and girls wish for Christmas; he’ll give them an early present, too! Santa will play some festive tunes on his pipes before entering his Grotto which is situated in one of the oldest parts of the castle.
The castle itself is open on the 13th and the 20th and it will be decorated as it was in the Victorian era during the time when the 7th Duke of Atholl and his family lived here. Spot the elves hard at work helping the family prepare for Christmas.
That’s not all, though. Also on the 13th and 20th are the castle’s Christmas Sunday Lunches next to the roaring fire in the Ballroom. The castle’s award-winning chef, Kelly Gordon, has devised a positively mouth-watering menu.

Once the seasonal festivities are over, the staff at the five-star visitor attraction will be preparing for next Easter when the castle opens once again.
VisitScotland has designated 2016 as the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design and the castle will be marking the distinctive contribution to this which past and present members of the family have made.
Displays will include designs based on those in the threatened Syrian city of Palmrya for the 18th century plasterwork still to be seen in the castle. Inspiration from the Hercules garden, conceived by the 2nd Duke, will be reflected in needlework created by the Embroiderers Guild.
The methods by which the estate has used hydro power as a source of energy for over a century will be compared and original plans for the World Heritage site of the Forth Rail Bridge will be on display.
