WELCOMING the announcement that British Airways (BA) will deliver a new daily flight connecting Inverness Airport with Heathrow Airport from early May 2016,
Fraser Grieve, regional director – Highlands & Islands, SCDI, said: “This is a fantastic announcement that BA are to introduce an Inverness to Heathrow flight in 2016 and will bring a great boost to the Highlands and Islands economy.
“Research conducted by SCDI only a few years ago highlighted how important a link with Heathrow would be, and the importance of connectivity to and through the London hub for businesses and access to international markets.
“We know from studies that at least 70,000 passengers per annum were lost from Inverness Airport through the lack of a direct link to Heathrow, and this new route will therefore support current and future business growth in the region and also enable more tourists to visit.”
