AS part of Befriending Week 2015 (1 to 7 November), Health in Mind’s volunteer fundraisers are hosting a ‘Speed Friending’ event on Wednesday 4 November at Starbucks on Shandwick Place, Edinburgh, from 5.30 until 7.30pm (arrivals from 5pm).
Katherine Sellar, Health in Mind’s community fundraiser explained how the event will give everyone the chance to meet new people in a friendly atmosphere.
“Unlike Speed Dating, there is no social pressure and no rejection; Speed Friending is just easy chat and everyone is welcome.
“We want the event to provide a friendly and easy way for people to get to know each other and have a nice time,” said Katherine.
The volunteer organisers have suggested a donation of £3 and all money raised will go in support of Health in Mind – a registered charity providing specialist mental health services and information in Scotland.
Katherine continued: “Instead of battling through the rush hour, stop off at the Speed Friending event, relax and enjoy meeting new people.”
