A LEADING developer of technology for the energy industry has gained important certification for a ground-breaking addition to its growing suite of products, resulting in outstanding interest from the industry.
Aberdeenshire-based Paradigm Flow Services has been awarded stringent DNV GL certification for its revolutionary Dry-Flo dry deluge system testing technology.
The system has been qualified in accordance with DNV-DSS-401 Technology Qualification Management and it is considered by DNV GL to be qualified for its intended use following DNV-RP-A203, Qualification of New Technology.
Says a spokesperson: “Dry-Flo offers significant advantages over traditional wet testing methods including a reduction in the number of personnel required, faster set-up and job completion times, the elimination of the need to cover and protect electrical equipment, and the ability to be used for all hazardous zoned areas while the deluge system is live.
“In addition, Dry-Flo implementation reduces the risk of accidental shutdown due to seawater ingress therefore reducing potential impact on production.
“This cost-effective system also removes problems traditionally experienced with conventional wet testing for deluge systems which can lead to pipework and nozzle blockages.
“In particular, the environment causing corrosion under insulation is totally eliminated, safeguarding asset integrity.”
Already in demand, Dry-Flo has been successfully deployed twice during projects with major operators in the UKCS and is set to be rolled out on other assets for the same clients.
Dry-Flo has also generated significant interest from potential clients in Norway, the Middle East and Asia with the high level of demand leading to the creation of a second, NORSOK-compliant unit by November 2015 and a software package which updates the system already used on the existing unit.
The innovative Dry-Flo system was a finalist in the Emerging Technology category of year’s SPE Offshore Achievement Awards and has made it to the final stages of the SME category of the 2015 Oil & Gas UK Award for Business Innovation. The winner will be announced in November.
Commenting on the ongoing success of Dry-Flo, Paradigm Flow Services’ managing director, Rob Bain, said: “Following initial demonstrations to clients and stakeholders, we were delighted that our new system was quickly and successfully deployed on North Sea assets and that it has generated high levels of interest for possible use in future projects with operators looking to assist extension of life for ageing assets with this technology.
“It was a significant milestone in the evolution of Dry-Flo to report when it achieved DNV GL certification as this provides assurance to our clients, both current and future, that the technology has been independently verified.
“This has translated into successful deployment offshore and establishing long lasting relationships with those using this technology on their assets.”
