Media Release: DBS gains internationally-recognised environmental certification

A PETERHEAD-based surface preparation and protective coatings company has been awarded an internationally-recognised certification in acknowledgement of its commitment to excellent environmental practices.

Davidsons Blast Services (DBS), which provides the specialist service to the oil and gas, decommissioning and subsea industries, has successfully achieved ISO 14001 environmental management standard.

The family firm secured the certification from an accredited certification body following a comprehensive audit which was undertaken alongside the company’s annual ISO 9001 Quality Management System review audit.

It took six months to achieve ISO 14001 certification which seen the company implement energy saving initiatives, reduce the environmental impact of its operations and introduce robust monitoring processes.

Says a spokesperson: “Certification to ISO 14001 demonstrates that DBS’s management system successfully monitors, evaluates, aligns and continuously improves its processes and operations.

“Each member of staff is dedicated to identifying and managing environmental risks as part of their daily operations.”

Operating from state-of-the-art purpose built premises situated at the Dales Industrial Estate in Peterhead, the firm’s environmentally-friendly blasting and painting facility features a unique grit recovery system, which enables DBS to reduce its carbon footprint.
